God loves to make the Christian life simpler than we often make it out to be. I used to believe that to discover God’s will I had to ask God for things and wait to see if life’s circumstances [...]

Veteran and Chief Hospital Corpsman (FMF/SW) Michael William Hardiman surprises Texas Country Artist Cory Morrow at Operation: Hats Off For Veterans
Chief Hardiman was born in El Paso and grew up in Wichita Falls, Texas where he joined the US Navy straight out of high school in 2000. He met his wife Sabrina during high school and together they began their adventure in the Navy to include duty stations onboard USS BOONE FFG-28 in Mayport FL, Assault Craft Unit One in San Diego, CA, Delta Battery 2/14 in El Paso TX, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing in Miramar CA, Naval Personnel Command Millington TN and currently serving as Inspector Instructor for Weapons Company 1/23 in Austin TX. Along the journey they acquired three beautiful daughters… Sierra, Savannah, and Haidyn.
It was during his assignment to 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing in 2012 where he deployed to Afghanistan where the flag was flown high and proud above the 3rd Marine Headquarters Squadron on board Camp Leatherneck. This came to be after some time in country… a small contingency of Marines and Sailors would sit around the smoke deck to smoke cigars, drink Near- beer, talk about our lives back in Texas, and most importantly listen to good ole Texas Red Dirt Music! Cory Morrow’s music was always the songs of choice when it was Chief Hardiman’s time to play a song. Along with care packages/letters from friends and family it was truly the music that helped those deployed ease the time while deployed. It was because of this that Chief Hardiman requested the flag to be flown for Cory Morrow.
The initial thought was to send the flag from Afghanistan, but he wanted to make a more personal experience and decided to bring it back to the states where he would eventually make it to a show and present it to him. Time passed and the opportunities to make it to a show just never seemed to coincide. So, after six years waiting for that perfect opportunity, the time has come!
Chief Hardiman thanks the Texas Rural Water Foundation for hosting this benefit in support of local veterans and making this dream come true for him. ... See MoreSee Less
